Positioned at the entry to Melbourne Art Fair 2026 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, the inaugural Champagne Bollinger Bar was designed by Brahman Perera as a place for visitors to stop, meet and celebrate across the four days of the fair. Draped cream fabric forms a soft backdrop to the space, while sculptural floor lamps, brushed stainless steel tables and bold red gladioli give it a strong, confident presence on the fair floor.

The layout is divided into two zones, each defined by Supertuft’s Escape Twist carpet. Missy in light blue grounds the bar, where high steel tables are paired with chrome stools upholstered in soft blue and chocolate brown. In front, Joni in deep green sets out the lounge, picking up the tone of the green velvet modular seating and tub chairs. Using carpet to mark out each area gave the design a clear structure within an open exhibition hall, while bringing warmth and softness underfoot. With furniture from Dann Event Hire, the space moved easily between quick catch-ups at the bar and longer conversations in the lounge.

Escape Twist is made from 100% New Zealand wool, chosen for its natural resilience and ability to hold its colour under heavy use. With thousands of visitors moving through the fair each day, the twist construction kept both zones looking composed from opening night through to the final day. Wool also helps absorb sound, which made a real difference in a busy lounge set within a large, hard-surfaced hall. It was a practical choice as much as a design one.
